Terms of Service
1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account or using Travel Buddy ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use Travel Buddy. By using the Service you represent that you are 18 or older and have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement.
3. Account Responsibility
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at support@travels-buddy.com if you suspect unauthorized access.
4. Nature of the Service — Matching Only
Travel Buddy is an information-matching platform. We help travelers discover and connect with other travelers heading to similar destinations on similar dates. We do not host trips, arrange transport, provide travel services, or vet other users beyond basic account verification.
5. Offline Interactions — Your Responsibility
Any in-person meeting, travel, or shared activity that takes place after a match is entirely between the participating users. You are solely responsible for your decision to meet, travel with, or share resources with another user. We strongly encourage you to:
- Share your trip details with an emergency contact using the in-app share feature
- Meet in public places first
- Trust your instincts and exit any situation that feels unsafe
- Report unsafe behavior immediately through the in-app report feature
6. Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to:
- Harass, threaten, stalk, or harm other users
- Post false, misleading, or fraudulent listings or profiles
- Use the Service for commercial solicitation without permission
- Attempt to circumvent rate limits, security measures, or RLS policies
- Scrape, automate, or extract data from the Service
7. Content You Post
You retain ownership of content you post (listing descriptions, profile info, reviews, messages). By posting, you grant Travel Buddy a worldwide, royalty-free license to display, store, and transmit that content as necessary to operate the Service.
8. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for violations of these Terms, including but not limited to harassment, fraud, or repeated abuse reports. You may delete your account at any time through Settings → Delete Account. Soft deletion lasts 30 days, after which the account is permanently removed.
9. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that any match, conversation, or trip arrangement will meet your expectations or be safe.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Travel Buddy and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service or interactions with other users, including but not limited to physical harm, theft, financial loss, or emotional distress.
11. Governing Law
To be determined. Will be specified in the final published version.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, the version number will change, and active users will be prompted to re-accept the updated Terms on their next app launch.
